Oral Day 10 Discussion
This picture depicts a scene of a particular nursing home where a young man in his twenties is holding a session for the elderly residents there. From what I see,I think that the man standing in the middle of the picture is a professional guidance teacher who is trying to get the elderly to imitate his actions. Most of the people there, including the helpers and the elderly, seem to be interested in what the man is telling them.I think that the reason why this man is hired to do this is to keep the elderlys' minds stimulated so that they have something to keep their minds occupied, thus delaying or preventing diseases such as Alzeihmer's.As a result,it is of utmost importance to keep the elderlys' minds in tip-top shape to reduce the chances of illnesses like dementia.
Oral Day 8 Discussion
This picture depicts a scene of several children playing a game of tag in the form of 'mother hen and the eagle' with an adult, probably their teacher. They are playing in a wide, spacious field and seem to be enjoying themselves immensely.Although this appears to be an informal shot in which the children are unaware of,the adult teacher seem to notice it,although she is too preoccupied with the game to care about it.In my opinion, everyone is having a great time playing this game because it lets them enjoy and relax in life at the same time, especially for the adult teacher who can play in a care free manner to let go of the realistic world, albeit for a short period of time. Therefore,I think that the childhood memories one experiences is the most carefree one as it does not involve matters of the adult world which is not as simple as what one encounters during childhood.Overall,it causes no harm if an adult occasionally reminiscence the innocent childhood memories back in the old days.
Oral Day 6 Discussion
This picture depicts a scene of 4 school girls in their uniforms cheering in unison at a particular stadium field. Thus,I think that the school is currently holding its sports meet and that there is a competition happening. These 4 girls are clapping their hands in enthusiasm and their elated expressions in the form of jubilant smiles are plastered onto their faces. In my opinion, these girls are cheering on for the team they are supporting and that team has most likely won one of the sports event. Also,I think that perhaps one of the reasons why the supported team had won the event had something to do with these girls' cheering. With friends who cheer them on to win the race, the team members must have been encouraged by their 'never-say-die' attitude, thus giving them a boost in confidence and adrenaline, pushing them to their very best to win the race. This kind of comradeship is indeed worth treasuring.
Oral Day 4 Discussion
This picture depicts a scene at an outdoor area where a number of wheelchair-bound people are waiting to board a bus specially designed to accommodate their physical handicap. At the entrance of a bus, there is a middle-aged man dressed in a flowery shirt holding out a helping hand for a handicapped person who is attempting to go up the ramp leading to the bus.Behind the handicapped person, another man clad in a T-shirt,probably one of the organization's helpers,is gripping on to the wheelchair handles tightly to push the man up onto the ramp. From what I see,I think that this simple action alone reflects how much the society cares for its needy citizens which in this case, are physically disabled people, by providing transport services catered especially to the needs of these people. The fact that the society does not leave any of its people out just because of their handicaps is heartwarming. As human beings,we should not neglect difficulties faced by these people, even though their troubles might seem insignificant to us.An act of kindness, however small, will most probably make the day for these people. Therefore,I conclude that how the society treats its needy people reflects the kindness and compassion of the society.

Oral Day 2 Discussion
This picture depicts a scene of 5 women practicing on some wigheads. They are most likely apprentices who are trying to master the art of cutting hair and washing heads,as seen from the bottle of conditioner on the table. Some of them, like the women on the extreme left and extreme right, are frowning in concentration as they snip off the dummies' hair expertly while the others are chatting and smiling happily, presumably to ease their boredom. However, they all seem to have the passion for this line of work from the amount of their enthusiasm and effort put into this hands-on practice session. It also seems that most women grow their hair long as seen from the picture where the apprentices are practicing mostly on wigheads with long hair. However,at the right foreground of the picture, there are two wigheads with short hair which are cut by other people.Perhaps this is to prepare for some customers who may want short, boyish cuts. After all,I think it is helps the trainees gain as much experience from creating a variety of different hairstyles to suit their customers' individual needs and at the same time, keeping up with the latest trends in the current fashionable hair-dos.
From what I see,I think that this picture was taken without any of the apprentices' knowledge because if they had known that they were caught on camera, they might not have looked so relaxed and focused on their work. Also, I think that they might not have behaved naturally under the camera.
To sum it all up,I think that as long as these apprentices continue to persevere in their efforts to perfect their hairstyling skills, then they would probably be successful barbers in the future.

T2W2: Murder at East End
Due to the escalation in the murder incidents in East End,the FBI carried out a covert operation to uncover the murderer responsible for the victims' plight. With the recent case about the fabrication of evidence that wasn't found out until three months of barking up the wrong tree. With this in mind, the police has classified this increase in cases as a high-profile emergency, where the felons responsible had potential ability to infiltrate the department.
T2W1: POOR
Used to living a life of opulence, Sonia could not adjust to the new life of destitution in the slums of the city. Even with the lush vegetation and enviably well-maintained parks surrounding her, she felt left out. For the first time in her life, she was not a part of the life of decadence. Call her one addicted to the life of materialism, but here, she truly simply had nothing, and nobody could bring her to salvation.

T1W10 Journal: Bane of the Banshee
When in repose, her face reminds me of the undead zombie in the middle of a particularly lugubrious wail. Her face had a mixture of apparently disparate features, the most distinct of which was the nose.My sister once made a derogatory remark about it looking like Mount Krakatoa about to explode, with lava flowing down its crater. However, the most unique characteristic was her puissant snore which reveberated around the entire room. She is none other than Mrs Mogget, nicknamed 'The Banshee'.

T1W9 Journal: The Legend
Ah~The nostalgia of childhood! When I was small, I was commonly known as The Legend. Being an ingenious strategist,I was often involved in strifes whereby I would lead my legion of loyal female followers to fight against the opponent male gang in my neighbourhood. Due to the retarded brain development of the boys,my gang would always prevail in the fight thanks to me. Panic was rife among the opponent gang.Once, the boys planned a coup against me but their intelligence was no match compared to mine and i defeated them easily. It was the last straw for them. They had no choice but to bow to me and hail me as queen.

T1W8:Crave for Chocs
Having an obssesive crave for chocolate of all kinds,I will always look forward to my birthday as my family and friends would send me cartons of chocolates of all kinds to accommodate my special need. Also,my parents would take me to different sweet shops to let me gawk at the myriad of chocolates there are.Chocolate truffles, chocolate balls, you name it,those shops have it.Simply put,I'm in love with chocolatesHowever, recently,my taste has undergone a major modification. My efforts into 'restarting' my crave for chocolate were abortive because I now long for lollipops.
T1W7:How to Survive in School
One of my friends (let's call he or she X) taught me the basic essentials on how to survive school when I was starting secondary school. X warned me that secondary school life was fraught with danger and told me not to be so gullible such as to fall prey to teachers no matter how impeccable they seem. Also, X told me that the reason teachers gave us so much homework was just a subterfuge to watch students suffer agonisingly under the weight of enormous stress. However,I knew better than to believe X's fallacious arguments as he/she continued to preach about the horrors of secondary school life.
T1W6 Journal:Mission
Whenever I see my school canteen squashed with people during Monday lunchtime,I would always think of some classmates from my primary school.Every day when the bell rings for reccess,a coterie of my classmates would make a beeline for the canteen. After a cursory glance at the number of people queuing, they would dispatch in teams, some to queue for food for the clique and some to 'chop' seats before it was taken up by other people. If they reached the canteen too late (i.e.long queuing lines),one of them would be a bulwark against the oncoming famine by distributing snacks from her cache to her other friends.Somehow, this reminded me of meerkats on a mission.

T1W5 Journal: The Crime
It was the most ambitious plan, yet also the stupidest. My 8-year old cousin, while trying to steal some sweets from the jar in my kitchen during a family reunion in my house, broke the jar.He declaimed against the crime, insisting that he was only an accomplice in the crime and I was the ('alleged') mastermind who had threatened him to steal the sweets. Then,he pointed at me and accused me of being culpable for the criminal act.My parents rolled their eyes as he persevered , trying to get away scot-free,not knowing that my parents and I had actually seen him break the jar.

T1W4 Journal: Mdm Maxime
Most people would scurry for shelter after glancing at her.Sumo wrestlers aspire to be like her (in terms of physical size). With her stenorian voice,Mdm Maxime looked like a mammoth alerting everyone of her presence within a twenty-metre radius(as if people could not see her).Anyone who ventured too close to her or was smaller than her ended up squashed by the lethal amount of bulk she had acquired over the years.Beware of Mdm Maxime... and her size.

Can One Improve on his/her English Skills?
I think that one can indeed improve on his or her English skills only through hard work and perseverance. One can start aiming for good English skills by starting from a young age.CDs that teach children basic English skills are helpful becase it builds a strong foundation in the English language. Also, growing up in an environment where English is often spoken can also be beneficial to one in order to improve the language. However,if one does not start learning English at an early age,one can always read more English books to learn new vocabulary words and build up grammar skills. One other alternative is to read or just skim through English newspapers like the Straits Times to develop writing skills or learn more about what is going on in the outside world.Lastly, there is always the costly option of going for English tuition lessons to hone one's English skills.
If one is willing to practise their English regularly with enthusiasm,it is possible that one can improve on his or her skills.

T1W3 Journal: The Deadly Gas
I was in the lift with some other people when the unfortunate event happened.I had the urge to fart, and nothing could stop it,not even the end of the world. At first,I had tried to repress it,but i soon realised it had no use. Therefore,I emitted the gas surreptitiously.I breathed a sigh of relief as the farting noise was barely audible. However, relief quickly turned to horror as I had a sudden thought:silent farts are deadly. My theory proved to be correct-the deadly gas permeated the whole lift almost immediately.I watched in silent horror as the people around me started choking as though they had just breathed in sarrin gas.I prayed for the lift door to open.As if my wish was granted by some unseen higher force, the lift doors opened with a silent swish. The people in the lift surged out of the killing box and strated gulping in fresh, untainted air from the environment. As I stepped out of the lift,I could not help but think that the ultimate fart could indeed jeopardize human lives.
T1W2 Journal: Polar Opposites
Meet Dave.At first sight, you cannot help but stare at him.His flamboyant character and his ostentatious dress sense, combined with his jaunty steps make you wonder how on earth someone with all these qualities can even exist. Then, your eyes shift to the person walking quietly beside Dave. From the way that person walks, you can see that he has a timorous personality. Also, that person keeps talking to Dave incoherently. His name is Tim.Now,if I had told you that those two people are fraternal twins, would you believe me?
T1W1 Journal: Meticulous Max
A few minutes had elapsed but it was still a fruitless search.Max sighed inwardly, thinking of how his elder sister had coerced him to find her jacket. He had almost missed out what his sister was garbling as he was deep in concentration doing his homework. He was meticulous in almost everything while his sister was the total opposite-which was why he disapproved of his sister.'Some things just cannot be helped,'Max thought before he resumed the search of his sister's missing jacket.
